Biography

Heartland Outside is an independent 501(c)(3) Kansas City trailbuilding organization, created in 2012. Heartland Outside directors are founding members of the Kansas City trailbuilding community, and annually bring more than 2,000 volunteer hours as well as philanthropic support to the Swope Trails and other trails projects. Prior to its 2012 restructuring from the previous Heartland Sports Promotions organization, the group was responsible for 80 race events over a 13 year period, bringing trails visibility to more than 20,000 participants and volunteers. As Heartland Outside, the group has provided Trail Manager expertise at Swope Trails, loans of tools for work days at area trails, conducted annual public work days, participated in Eagle Scout, Skills USA, and Urban Rangers projects, and has coordinated extensive honeysuckle eradication efforts with KC Wildlands.
