Biography

Sean has been with Urban Trail Co. from the beginning. With a passion for everything outdoors and a drive for problem-solving, Sean has stepped into leadership roles in both trail building and organization since 1993. Sean brings more than 20 years of experience in every aspect of trail design, building, maintenance, and partnership management to the Urban Trail Co. board, where he is currently an At-Large director. He has been the Trail Manager at Kill Creek Park, where he surveyed the land and submitted the initial trail proposal for the new park. Currently Sean is the Trail Manager at Shawnee Mission Park, home to one of the region's most frequently used trails, and the new Cedar Niles Trails in Olathe. Under his oversight, completion of a 10-year effort to overhaul and expand the trails also drove a "philanthropic pyramid scheme," developing committed, trained trail builders and attracting dozens of additional trail volunteers. Sean's efforts earned him the 2010 Kansas Park and Recreation Association's Distinguished Public Service award. As West Regional Director, Sean oversees the trails on the Kansas side of the state line, including those at Shawnee Mission Park, Kill Creek Park, Cedar Niles Park, and Wyandotte County Lake Park.
